Video Feedback Best Practices

Get your equipment.

All you need is a smart phone. You do not need any additional microphone or camera. However, if you have additional sound and recording equipment you are welcome to use it.

Choose your recording setting.

For recording on your phone, go to camera settings and choose record video 720p at 30fps. A higher resolution is not needed and will only take up more space on your phone/computer and take longer to submit.

Setup your singing space.

Position yourself and your device so that you can be seen at a minimum from your hips up (preferably from your feet up). Check your lighting and make sure you can be seen clearly. (Do not stand with a sun filled window or lamp behind you. It’s best if the light is in front of you).

Record.

Once you have everything in place, record a 5-10 second video of yourself singing. Watch the video back to ensure you can be seen and heard. Now you’re ready to record for real. If you plan on submitting via Google Drive, you can record through the camera application on your phone. If you would like to submit via the Marco Polo app, add Laura to your contacts using the phone number 609-865-0011. Once added, choose Laura from your Marco Polo contacts and a recording screen with appear. Simply record and send.

Submit your video.

If you’ve recorded in Marco Polo, you’ll be prompted to send a text notification to Laura that you’ve submitted a video. Simply follow the prompts in the app. If you are submitting via Google Drive, upload your video to Google Drive and share the file with laura.jo.davis@gmail.com.

Helpful, but not necessary, equipment.
